RL with the kid;
Jun. 20th, 2012 09:56 amJecht tried not to think about the community. Sure, he'd met wonderful people -- Terra, Jack, Cross -- and promptly lost them all. Yeah, it was swell knowing exactly what was going to happen to him. Watching the ruined wreck of the man he loved might possibly have very strong feelings for and knowing that was coming for him. Having Cefca out of reach most of the time, too far to help. The community was awesome.
If Tidus were alive and well and still doing a shitty job at his own pilgrimage, Jecht would probably, very honestly, be drunk right now. But Tidus wasn't alive. Chalk that up to one more great community experience: watching your kid die before you did. And before he'd gone, Jecht had made him a promise. No more drinking. He had his act together this time and he was going to keep it that way.
So instead of "liberating" Auron's sake jug and making off for some quiet time (which was still the best-sounding idea he'd had in months, counting the time he'd lived twice-over now) he got a worldhop and snuck his way into Guadosalam. He wasn't really sure what he was doing. This was a long shot, he wasn't stupid, but it was the last one he had. He wasn't even sure what would happen if he crossed the bridge to the farplane, but -- hey, look at that, still corporeal. Ignoring the dirty looks from the couple next to him (fuck you, he's a legendary guardian, he does what he wants) he raised his fingers to his lips and let out a piercing whistle.

It took him a few seconds to register his new surroundings. He knew this place, but the last time he had been here, he had been the one of the observers on the outcropping. But who was it that...?
He finally notices the man standing in front of him, and despite everything he's been through, despite being dead, he's still more intimidated than he would like to admit at first. He blinks in confusion, unlike the other visions that float nearby. For the first time in a while, he felt something. A warmth at seeing someone familiar. He tries to think of something to say, anything, but all he can think of is:
"Hi."

Date: 2012-06-20 03:56 pm (UTC)Your father wasn't shifting and kicking at the rocks like a nervous, antsy kid. Why did you ask, Tidus? He's totally fine.
Fuck, what had he been thinking? What was he supposed to say, anyway? 'Hi, kid, how's tricks? Sucks that your dead. Way to go protecting Yuna, I'm sure this won't change her.'
"Dumbass. I told you to change things. Where do you get off dying?"
Jecht: Failing at communication since always.

Date: 2012-06-20 04:35 pm (UTC)"I did change things. Yuna doesn't have to die now, she can live, and so can the rest of Spira."
The same words as always spilled out of his mouth. So rehearsed. So hollow. He had to wonder, were they to reassure the man who seemed just as anxious as he was, or himself?

Date: 2012-06-20 07:24 pm (UTC)There was an unmistakable note of pride in his voice. Tidus had done what he'd set out to do -- saved Yuna, saved all of Spira. Done what Jecht couldn't.
"You weren't supposed to die."
He'd never wanted that for his child. "I'm sorry. I didn't know."

Date: 2012-06-20 11:51 pm (UTC)Stupid community with its recording things at the worst times.
He could only shrug half-heartedly, looking back down.
"That's not how the Fayth saw it."
It wasn't Jecht he wanted to feel bad though. He didn't want his old man to be sorry. There were a lot of things he got mad at him for, but it wasn't his fault this world was messed up.
"Even if you had, no one could have done anything. The Fayth...they didn't let me know until near the end." Until he cared so much about Yuna that it was too late.
"It's okay though." No it wasn't.

Date: 2012-06-21 02:58 am (UTC)A dream -- not real -- he'd been real enough to be Sin, had't he? Convenient that they could use them and then dismiss them so easily. Both of them. And using him -- well, he'd made a choice, and he knew he'd make it again. That wasn't a platitude. He would make it again, thanks to the loop he seemed to be living.
"No it isn't."

Date: 2012-06-21 03:27 am (UTC)Tired of being weapons of death, of watching their allies, the summoners they were supposed to protect die at the hands of Sin or some other fiend. Sure, he resented his fate, and Jecht's, but they were just dreams to them and he was tired of all the deaths.
"You don't have to be used though." Yeah, dodging that other subject.

Date: 2012-06-21 03:39 am (UTC)Jecht shrugged, sitting down on the edge of the stone jetty. "Glad to see you here, though. Y'know. Around."
Not dead.

Date: 2012-06-21 03:48 am (UTC)Tidus sat down in turn, propping his elbow on one knee and resting his chin on his palm.
"Yeah...you too. It's good to see you again." After everything.

Date: 2012-06-21 03:52 am (UTC)Jecht reached out, his hand passing through Tidus's hair as he tried to ruffle it. He let out a quiet swear, pulling his hands back.
"Think it's gonna happen t'me, too?"

Date: 2012-06-21 03:56 am (UTC)"I don't know. When I first got here, I saw you...but just know some things work differently on the Farplane than they do right now. You're strong." The strongest guy in the world. "I think you're too damn stubborn to let it happen to you."

Date: 2012-06-21 03:59 am (UTC)Jecht crossed his arms over his chest, glaring down at Tidus, even though there was no real heat in it.
"And what about you? Man up! Don't let'm crush you!"

"Yuna wont give up either, y'know. So don't make her wait for your sorry ass!"

Date: 2012-06-22 10:27 pm (UTC)Comforting and familiar -- a long standing tradition of parental harrassment and childish rebellion. Yup, that's them. It's a healthy family dynamic.
